About Us / Our Story
The Community Centre was originally built by the mine owners for their workers and families in 1906 and is still called the Seghill Colliery Institute which is situated on the main street through the village. The local people of the village always call the centre The Tute.
Since 1962 when the mine closed our dedicated voluntary group are endeavouring to keep running Community building by raising funds and promoting activities for the community of Seghill and surrounding areas.
